Hello. I have been working for some time trying to add a friction device below the hitch that is midline attachable, and believe I finally have it. I call it a "Bulldog" ascender/descender OAR and it works with a hitch on either a SRT or DRT setup. When used DRT as pictured, you fully release the hitch by pulling it down, and then push the bottom arm on the Bulldog down with the heel of the hand. When used SRT, you pull down on the hitch only just like DRT, and both arms of the Bulldog provide most of the friction. It advances readily and the top attach point can be used to advance the hybrid hitch/Bulldog when used SRT.

lol

Figure out which one you trust more and get rid of the other one.

I second.

I can see only one advantage of what you have pictured for drt, that the links advance you're knot if you're bodythrusting. A micro pulley or fixe will do that however.

In srt, the reduced friction is a plus, though most of us use rated descending gear on the descent when friction from a knot would pose a problem.

How much time you have in that, and how much $? gotta be less than the unicender....

Hope you're not climbing on those single action gate links though, and factory spliced e-2-e are way cleaner. Just saying. Kudos on the build if it serves your purpose though.

Just the belt works for me.

On a doubled rope this Bulldog OAR works without the hitch at all, and it would make sense to go with the durability of all steel friction points, especially if a hitch cord is wearing out too often.

On SRT you would have to have friction assist in order to work with a hitch at all, the beauty being that you can ascend and descend without having to change gear at all.
