Hi guys long time no post, I have a Morbark 15 the problem i have is that the drum freezes over night all the time. Has anyone encountered that and how have you solved it. Now all we do is go to the car was station and melt the ice out with hot water its very tedious and gets to be time consuming and 3 bucks ever time. Thanks ahead of time.

how about a 50/50 blend of antifreeze the kind they use in pipes when storing campers/mobile homes. or a large tarp? salamander heater would work good too let it run why trucks are warming up in the morning.. good luck..

Don't know if this will help or not, but try blowing the chipper off, + the feed chute and drum area with a backpack blower the day before, just before you put it away.

sorry for some confusion, on a morbark 15 they added blower fins on the side of the drum and left air holes so the fins can suck in air to help propell the chips out of the shout. On my old #13 there where not any of these fins so i never had the problem. Now when it snow/rains it melts and then freezers into a block of ice. There by freezes the drum tight hence going to the car was to melt it out. TOMTREES that does sound like an idea to drill hole in the bottom of the fin chamber to allow water and snow to drain, just woried that it might allow to much air in and some how it wont have any power to through the chips ( ther holes will have to be big so that it willl not and clog up.

Stupid idea time, keep in mind we thinks its freezing here if we have to scrape our windscreens in the middle of winter.

Can you use some kind of hose to redirect the chippers engines exhaust to warm the area. (wont be hot but perhaps warm enought to break the freeze lock) You could leave it idling while you gear up or are heading for your job and it might be enough to thaw it out.
