frustrated by husqvarna 242

I acquired this somewhat used 242, had a scorched piston on exhaust side. cleaned up cylinder and put in a new am piston, and rebuilt the carb. Has spark but I cannot get it to start, even with priming it a few times. Will probably sell it on ebay as a non running saw. Don't know what to do to make it start, at this moment, I wonder if it's flooded

Did you check impulse line, seals? There was some reason the piston was scored.. Air leak? Probably...

Check the new piston dimentions against the old one.particularly the length between crankpin and piston crown.

Air leaks are common cause of death. They’ll make a saw run lean and burn. Get a pressure tester. Pressure test the carb and cylinder.

I gave it one last pull today ( before posting it on ebay as a non runner)and it tried to start! I'm convinced I had it flooded. I messed around with the mixture setting. leaned em out a fair bit, and it's running decently! I'm absolutely terrible at adjusting a carb, have a tach, my ears do me no good cuz I've lost much of my hearing.....
