Wondering where you guys go for replacement fuel filters. I know Baileys sell some, but don't seem to have any filter for BIG saws (over 800cc). I am a cheap azz and $16 for a fuel filter from my dealer is absurd! Anyone have some cheap sources for decent fuel filters? If I had a good carcass, I would buy the replacement felt for a few bucks. But, I don't, and I would rather spend about $4-5 than $16. Thanks

I hope that is a typo or I am in trouble.

Did you ask Bailey's or just check out their catalog?

Fred

HA HA - yeah, should be 80cc. No Bike saws for me - yet :ices_rofl:

Just checked Bailey's online. Didn't ask Grande Dog or post in their sponsor forum yet.

The local /shinindawa/jonsered dealerr lawnmower/snowblower.. ok small engine repair and sales guy here.. (20 miles away) has filters for both 50cc saws and below and then 80cc saws.. justdifferent size filters i think that were 4.50 -7.00$ each. Good sales if you ask me..and always has used saws for sale also. good prices on stuff also.

Call be biased, but... The best one I see is the Stihl filter. It only costs (list) about $5-6, and you can replace the core in the smaller filter for about $2 (which you should do once a year). I taking about the white or black filters, not the really old orange sponge filled filters. There are two sizes of filter bodies (one is a HIGH FLOW type for large or pro saws) and there are two sizes of nipples. You can also get a weighted filter (white body).

As part of a "tune-up", we replace the fuel filter and pop the end of the carb to check the inlet screen (so I've seen inside a few thousand carbs!) the Stihl filters are almost always doing their job (filtering, AND providing pickup of foaming fuel). Most of the aftermarket including the felted material ZAMA filter are really bad - always have junk in the inlets screens.

To be fair, MOST files will do an adequate job if changed annually... but most don't change them.

Well, are you gonna give me the Stihl part number, or leave me in the dark? Those high flow rebuildable filters sound exactly like what I am after! Thanks!

Josh

I'm reasonably sure its the 0000 350 3504 - lists for $5.20 (SNW).
The HIGH flow filter isn't rebuildable though... NO reason why not, but stihl only provides the insert for the smaller filters. Grrrrr..
