Really? Most guys say they hold up pretty well. I did get a PM about someone who might want to sell their pair so I am waiting to see what happens with them.

ronnyb, $270 odd dollars for 4 or 5 years use of the most comfortable spurs on the market is bloody good value in my opinion.

if ya gona gripe about the price you either are a sucker for punishment and dont care about pain or your a complete tight wad, i would be happy to pay some extra cash for that much more comfort.

oh yeah just remember here in New Zealand a pair of alloy geckos is damn near $700 big ones mate.:dizzy:

who else sells the gecko carbon fiber spurs, other than sherrill tree? im very interested in getting a pair, but i want to some shopping first! thanks

I just got a pair of old lineman's spurs from a tag sale. I hit em up with a flat file, threw some bag balm on em (to soften the dry rotted leather), and was good to go! :)

The secret to comfortable spurs is fit and proper boots, not brand. Bucks and Bashlins can be all day comfortable set up right. They must have non-flexing top pads like cast aluminum cadi or steel insert leather. Steel has two different angle choices, cast aluminum don't. Some are not comfortable in the aluminum cadillacs for this reason.

Find the ones that fit you the best and you will find comfort.

Don't know what it is like there but our pawn shops seem to be recycled stolen goods centres. I bought a near new 020 many years ago for under $300 checked with Stihl it was part of a lot of 20 saws that were stolen. I found this out from the shop that sold them. I rang the Stihl shop a couple of weeks later to find out what had happened and no follow up had been done.

It was a very good saw.

I'll only use Gecko's

I have a rule and that is buy the best to begin with and don't look back and second guess. Geckos are so comfortable, I can climb multiple trees in one day and at the end when I take them off all I can feel on my leg is where the velcro wrapped around my leg. Awesome product and worth every penny, I got mine in 2006 and they still look brand new. Sherrill is the only supplier I know who carries them. I wouldv'e bought the carbon fiber ones, but they didn't have them when I got mine, anybody want to trade?

how do they wear... like w/ aluminum, u can inspect them for cracks, and anything like that, and on the bottom, from walkin across the homeowners driveway, or anything, and they get scratched up... it wont hurt them, but what about w/ the cf?

Ordered a brand new set of geckos from sherrill on wednesday...they should be here by Friday! I will let you guys know how I like them!

yeah i am concerned with the wear on my gecko CFs`, i have a pair of wescos but the shank doesnt fit up snug with the bottom of my boot and i am hoping that it is not gonna be a problem...i used to climb on the kliens and they fit my boots nice but were way too heavy and uncomfortable even with the big buck pads

No mating for me. Yes I am complaining about the high prices . Love to hear blokes tell of how they get robbed in their country then tell us we should be happy were just barely getting ripped off in ours. Yeah ripped off. I post it yet again the price of some things in the climbing industry are way to high for what you get. Rigging dvd for, what was it like $700 now its 200. Come on.
The Bashlin aluminum climbers that I picked up at a pawn shop in S.F. 12 years ago are top shape. Paid $75 with no upper pads. Long spur short spur both have a place in trees.. I oder the long and take it down 1\4 of the way.....perfect.
I have 3 sets, short spurs for hard bark and long for shaggy bark. Then the ones I use daily.

To me the boot is more important the the spur. I've had a pair of the tall wesco boots for over 6 years. I bust em' out on the big removals. Not much for a man wearing heels (kills my back on the ground) but in the tree those boots boost your stability.
