Ok i did a search and all the gecko talk is kinda old. i tried to get opinion on my other thread so please forgive me if you're tired of all this gaff talk. anyways does anyone use or know anyone that do. i know the product description but i want some customer reviews

What better thing to talk about than tree gear? I've never tried the Geckos so have no opinion, Reviews I've read were mixed.

I have a pair myself. The gaffs are kinda short so the kick out on me sometimes. I have a felling this has a lot to do with my lack of experience climbing on gaffs. On the comfort side...they are very cumfy. I like the velcro straps personally. Hope this helps at least a little.

i have some on order tinman, should have been here before christmas so i should have them soon fingers crossed, i'll keep you posted.
mark chisholm has a pair, you could talk to him. also rupe, dont know if he posts on this forum, he loves them, only problem he has had is on ash trees.
i tried some on at a recent show and the gaffs were way longer than what im used to, also the angle seemed funny.......because of the rigid top pad the shanks dont skew to the side as your normal spikes will, hence your gaff sticks out at a parallel angle to the shank running down your leg.
in my case it threw my balance out of whack and made it feel like the spike was positioned too far to the back of my heel. i'll get used to it though im sure.....just c ouldnt turn the whole carbon thing down

I've been climbing on them for about half a year and have come to like them. The angle of the spike does take some time to adjust to. I kicked out a bunch of times getting used to them because I was used to climbing with pole spikes. The pole spikes put my boot very close if not on the tree, the geckos keep me off the tree and allow more twisting of the foot than I had ever experienced, and this caused me to rotate them out of the tree on several occasions. The good thing about the spikes are the straps, and they don't kick out too easily if you have and keep your feet planted correctly. You don't have to stay at a cocked back angle like most people do with normal spikes. The geckos allow you to stand more up right than regular spikes will.
I'll be wearing them today taking down 3 pines trees.

I wouldn't trade my Geckos for anything. I've used both Buckingham's and Klein's, but I personally wouldn't trade mine in for any of the competitors. The hard plastic upper-shin support coupled with the plush foam pad and wide velcro straps elimate the shifting of spur legs. The different angle did take a little time to adjust, but after a few hours in the tree, I was able to carry on without problems. I did however change the lower nylon bindings for a pair of Weaver leather straps with the metal ring. This alteration eliminated the need to re-tighten the binding in the tree. If you are having problems with the spurs kicking on your Geckos, try sharpening your gaffs. I keep mine touched up and as a result seldomly kick out! I would recommend their use to anyone.

PS: When and if you get your Geckos, I would recommend that you pull the gaff bolts out and put some 'blue' locktight on the treads. I noticed that one of my recessed bolts had come slightly loose. I didn't care for the thought of a gaff flipping a 180 while aloft, so I decided to ensure that they wouldn't come loose again!

The Geckos look cool, but I think I will hold out for the Wolfclaws. I have to much titanium in my left leg and I feel it every time I spike into something hard.
