Getting a new MS 260 carb. Which one?

I'm going to mod the muffler & decided to just replace the existing fixed jet Intelli carb with one that has a Hi-speed adjustment. I'm going that route rather than changing the jets in the existing carb as I want to be able to easily adjust for optimal performance whether I'm at sea level or 9,000' or if it's 10 degree's or 100.

Anyhow, if I'm not mistaken, when ordering, all I have to do is ask for an ADJUSTABLE INTELLI 260 or 026 carb correct?

Does anyone have a part number handy? I have looked at the older threads,....just thought I'd ask to double check.

Anything else I should watch for or be aware of before ordering?

DING!!! Time for another ignorant question...

I have never (luckily) seen a fixed jet carb on a Stihl, I think. Does the fixed jet have no way of adjusting the carb? Are the carbs on these saws now (adj screws with limiter caps) consided fixed, or adjustable? Can they be replaced with "aftermarket" carbs that have no limiter caps.....

thanks for clearing that up. I figured that was the way it worked, but never being exposed to a fixed jet, well hell, anythings possible.

"Putting a plastic cap on an adjustment screw does not qualify as a 'fixed jet'. It's still adjustable, you just have a (removable) limiter cap on the adjustable jet".

Does the WT 426 carb I'm after have the limiter caps? I hope not.

Hi Rustyb, here is a number which may work for you, depends on where your dealer orders from. #1121 120 0650 and may require the "A" suffix. Reatila is about $65 US and it will include the Intelli cover and a standard cover. You may also find a used one on eBay for less.
