Hey everyone. I have been wanting to start porting and tuning saws for a long time.

I never wanted to take the chance with a new saw, so just have never started.

I have rebuilt many engines. My first engine rebuild was a Honda CB750 four cylinder motorcycle when I was 15.

My experience is all on 4 stokes, but I am sure that would be handy with the 2 Stoke engines.

I have a machine shop. Two Bridgeport mills, a larger precision manual lathe, a large CNC lathe, and all the other shop stuff to go with it.

Are there any good resources to get started? I have seen some stuff in YouTube, but I don't know enough to know who is doing it right and who isn't.

Also how do you get saws? I have called multiple dealers and none have saws that they will sell as parts, as they are all fixing them.

Thanks

From what I've seen on FB marketplace, people are generally asking a lot of $ for saws that look pretty beat up. If you live in/near a large city, I'd hit hardware stores that repair small engines and ask them the same as you asked the dealers. Same for lawn and garden stores.

Thanks, I live out in the sticks, so that kind of presents a problem for finding shops. Closest big town is an hour away and has 8,000 people. The town closer than that is only 150 people. LOL
