I need to buy another saw for use up in the tree. What do y'all think I should get?A husky, stihl, maybe echo?I got a 335xp now but need a little bigger.I did use a 371xp but Ken still has it doing his magic:D I need something in between them.

Well, I can see that you are obviously a Husky person. I personally am a Stihl man myself. If I was looking for something for in the tree, a little bigger than an MS200 I would have to say something along the lines of a 250 or 260. I think the 250 will take an 18" bar maxed out. A 260 pro will take up to either a 20 or 24" bar. Depends how often you need a larger saw in the tree, and just how large of a saw you need.

I cut a alot of oaks and big pines so it would have to handle this use.How well do you think the 260 would hold up?

I think if your gonna max out the bar on the 260 it probably won't hold up too well if you are using the whole bar in big oak all the time. Otherwise, a descent size bar on the 260, if it's not whomped on all the time should hold up for a long time. If you are going to put a 24" bar on the 260 and feel that you will use the whole length of the bar on oak... I would suggest stepping up to a 360. Just my look on things.

I do alot of pines and euc work as they grow as weeds here, I have a 15inch bar on my 020 and if that hasnt got the bite I have a 44 which isnt to bad to swing in the tree if not a little big at times. I find its a good combination. Im not brand specific but have ended up with stihl gear somehow!

I looked at a few saws today.I got a price of $519 for a 357xp w/18" bar and a Jons 2159 w/18" Total bar for $475.Does these prices sound pretty good or to high.

Saw

Go with the 345xp. It's the quickest saw out there right now. You can use an 18 inch bar on it no problem. Still it's light enough to get around in a tree or down the stalk. Good choice. You probably could land one for around $365-$400. Might help you out.

Shindaiwa 357

I'm no old pro, but I am very happy with my Shindaiwa 357. It is equipped w/ some good features, and the power and weight are excellent for a saw that only cost me $325.

Cliff-1972, the 357xp would not be a bad saw to have in your collection. I've climbed with a 254xp before and I liked it, the 357 doesn't weigh that much more. A 357xp may be better if you do more removals than pruning. Plus you can modify the 357xp later on if you need more power or decide to keep it on the ground.
