I wouldn't even own this saw if it weren't for Tom (Elivis) Hall goading me into buying it. (What a salesman)

Seldom you find a good firewood tree, here in the Midwest, that you need a 36" bar.
Of course, the first thing I did to this saw (thanks to you all) was buy a dual port muffler, cut the limiter tabs, re-tune and void the warranty.
Got maybe 2-3 hours on it last fall.
Had my eye, this Spring, on a big standing (suspected) Oak tree (no bark) in a friends pasture.
As firewood season is upon us, I went looking for that tree
yesterday.
The summer storms here had blown it down, root ball and all.
I worried it might be rotten.
It wasn't.
Solid as a rock.
When I cut off the root ball I only had an inch or two of the 36" bar out the other side.
I was using a 36" skip chain that I had re-sharpened by hand after cutting a big dead Cottonwood snag at almost ground level. http://www.arboristsite.com/showthread.php?t=66019
I musta done a good on the sharpening job as that 660 was almost hurtin my leg with the volume of chips it was spittin out?
My cuttin buddy (Jeff) asked me to give her a try when I had to stop to re-fuel.
He wouldn't give it back.
When he shut her off... he said (with a big smile) "I....GOTTA...get me one of these!"
We cut that whole trunk up in 20-30 minutes!

Just wish it weren't so durn heavy (or I wasn't so damn old and febble)

Found another dead oak and a dead Walnut tree (both standing) as well as some BIG blown down Oak limbs in the same pasture.

Gonna be a good year for firewood here in the Midwest.

Fish....If you're readin this....I used that 026 Pro ya fixed for me on all the small stuff yesterday and.....it ran like a CHAMP! (Thanks....Again!)

Sure is great to get to runnin my saws again.

Tom, if you are reading this.....thanks fer talking me into buying this saw.
Even if I only get to use it a few times a year...it's worth it. (kinda like the price of a divorce) I fitted it with a 28" bar, bigger sprocket and a new chain today....can't wait for the weekend!

have fun and be safe

and when the chips are hittin' your legs and you can FEEL it...
that's a sharp chain there

Lots of good feelings after reading your comments, Dan !!!

1. one is never too old to rock !
2. a sharp chain is better than additional hp, but if ya have both....helleluja
3. never trust a stihl dealer, even if his name is Tom Hall or Fish :greenchainsaw:

Happy cuttin !

Boy, it's almost too late to be looking for wood around here. The white stuff is already on the ground in the mountains.

  Never heard that before! And you're really making me want a 660 now.

Trust me, it ain't the saw that's heavy, it's that dang bar...:jawdrop:

I hear ya Dapper...my 066 isn't used nearly frequent enough.
I have to loan myself out usually to get a chance to use it, nothing on my own property that requires the old girl.
Sunday I went over to a buddies place b/c he had a couple big oaks for another guy to haul away. They kinda laughed when I told them to get the limbs cleaned up (one had brand new 372 other had brand new 361) so I could work on the trunk. They stopped laughing when the 066 w/ dual port and 28" came out of the truck. Their work stopped when she started tossing chips. I was a nice guy and let them take a turn w/ her.
