Well its a yes and no kinda answer, for it all depends upon what you intend on milling. For the small (less than about 16 Diameter Inside Bark=DIB)occasional softwood not realy an issue so long as its treated nice and richened up, given time, and a sharp chain, you can achieve some results. For alot of milling somthing much bigger is best but smaller saws do have there niche in milling. The 346 is very load sensitive, and is happier at higher rpms, if you have a 346 I am sure you know where you can get a dust covered ole homelite or something you can tinker with for your mill..............then you will be hooked.
