He's dang right about it happening in a split-second! :(
Reminds me of the last time I fell; working on 1 hr. sleep after an all-night drive from FL and a full day of classes, free-climbing a maple because the branches were spaced so evenly it was a snap, leftrightleftright, :Monkey: then you guessed it, SNAP I'd pulled too hard on a dead branch next thing I knew THUD 20 feet later I was on the ground backfirst and rolling to dissipate impact (not my first fall so I knew to do that) and rolled right into a pipe with a spigot on top.

Less than 2 feet away from a grotesque impalement:eek:; since then I've A. slept more the night before climbing and B. freeclimbed a lot less.

One thing wrong in the article; Gravity does not rule the realm of physics anymore, but string theory does. Watch:Eye: Nova on PBS Tuesday night if you want to know more. Warning:it may bend your mind.

Cool. I enjoy bending my mind.
mb if you want to preview background and even the first two episodes see http://pbs.org/nova/elegant/

Gravity still rules in this dimension, but a lot of evidence suggests there are many more dimensions we are actively involved with. It's something that seems very possible after you've been in a tree for a time...
