grinder wheels

I have a cheap Oregon grinder with a fixed angle. I jammed a piece of wood under the dial to raise the angle a bit and get a better bite out of the gullet.Sort of works.
Anyway the little grinder wheel is ok for regular chain but a thinner wheel might work better for pico..
with a nice balanced spin.....any suggestions on a wheel???

Metabo wheels have always worked great for me, but I do not have a chain sharpener and only use them in metabo hand grinders.
The sharpener needs a cut off wheel not a grinding wheel correct?

The last three years I've been using a CBN(Cubic Boron Nitride) wheel. They're expensive (I paid $115 shipped) though they're supposed to last much longer

It is typical to use a 3/16" thick wheel for 3/8 and .404 chain, and a 1/8" thick wheel for .325 and 3/8 LP chain.

I have also switched to the CBN wheels and personally I will not use one of the pink vitrified wheels again.

Totally agree, never have to buy another wheel. (I'm 64 so probably never need a new pink wheel either!)

does nobody use bog standard grinding wheels ?
this one has done a few hundred chains (and hedge trimmers)
