well, not last night, but over the winter I modded an old 066 muffler i had laying around. I cut out the lower portion of the internal box that the port dumps into, removed the screen, and opened up the outlet port about double its size from the factory.
I did a similar mod to my 036 pro, and wow, it made a huge difference.
The clutch ate the needle bearing and crappy plastic cage for supper last night, so since i was in for repair on that i went ahead and put on the modded muffler.
Wow! It made it a whole new saw! I could tell a difference in power, and the time it was taking to cut bucking up a 34" dimater ash trunk. I just had a few pieces off before i lost the bearing, and when i started in again..it was really cutting! I made my test time ever bucking that thing up.
It was a totally solid log, all green, no rot, and it was cutting like a rotten old pin oak would..the bar just dropped through this log like butter.
Anyway, thanks to all here who has posted info and pics on the mods! The work great!!!!!!!!!
