Thats not to bad John, I should put a pic of my bucket truck on here. This must mean that were not the pros we think we are.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this isn't the first picture of a tree/tractor collision the John has posted here...:dizzy:
Oh, but setting a logging chain at 15' and using the tractor to pull over a backleaner works soooo much better than using a throwbag and setting a rope in the canopy, right???

Whats wrong with that? You can still drive it right? I think it is a spectacular shot, you just missed all that metal on you bucket and took out the sacrificial plastic parts. This reminds me of another tractor related incident. What ever happened about the story of the landowners dog?

Out of curiosity what happened, how long until it can be fixed and whats the damage to your wallet?

We shouldn`t be too critical of Gypo, he is afterall helping to keep the North American economy healthy. You guys may be familiar with the saying "nobody moves, nobody(nothing) gets hurt" meaning that if noone does anything, there isn`t much chance of getting hurt, right? Well the obvious counterpoint to that statement is that if you do work, move, or do things in general, sh!t is bound to happen sooner or later.

Rick, why not post some pics of your bucket truck? Have you ever dumped a big stem on it?

I know that for several years it seemed we had an average of one bucket truck tipped over and damaged annually by guys trying to set poles with them.:D I even know a few of the guys who had pretty exciting rides as their trucks tipped and slid down embankments. Thank the Lord that they tied into the bucket before their big rides, lol.

Let this be a warning to you guys who buy old utility buckets at auction. They are most often sold "as is" and there may be significant damage to the lift. The utility that I worked for employs their own factory certified mechanics to service the lifts and a significantly damaged lift might send a truck to auction.

John, Were you able to get it home without some sort of hi-dollar, off-road tow?
John...

He said he was going to pull it out with his skidder. That would be bad to have to pay some wrecker company to pull that out bet that would cost an arm and a leg.

John, the same happened here with a man on the tractor. The steering wheel pinned his legs. No serious injury but very bad bruising. Now by law every tractor used must have safety protection, canopy, or ROP.

I was kind of hoping he would try to brake steer it onto the trailor.
John..

Whatsnext was right, it can be brake steered out, it starts and runs, but one of the hydraulic steering lines has a leak ,all else seems ok. I think it got more whipped by the branches as opposed to a direct impact cause it was a 6 ton tree at least.
Stihl Crazy, glad I wasn't on it, I don't think I would have walked away.

So how did it happen Gypo?? I haven't seen an accurate rendition of the chain of events that led to you squashing another piece of equipment??

Was Rotax skidding while you were falling. It looks that way.

Ha ha. Gypo, you *******! :)

I recall using a Massey Ferguson 265 (65 hp) to push an old sycamore over. The sycamore was about 3' dbh. Silly me, I had the loader up about 10 ft in the air pushing, and the damn tree was rotten on the inside. It broke off right below the loader and the tractor lurched forward pushing the fan through an $800 radiator and messing the sheet metal up. I was just happy the top went forward instead of backward. :)

I didn't figure I'd be able to push it over, I was just wanting to try. Amazing some of the dumb things I did when I was a teenager.

Hahaha,
Barky's and Spacemules posts were the funniest I have read in a long time!
Spacemule, it looks like you're a cull as well!
Hahaha.
