There you go marty run up to Jokers and run againist some of ehp's, crofter's, Gypo's and woodjunkies chains. Good luck! Woodjunkie do you run round filed chain?

macman,
sorry to hurt fales and your feelings. he could have contacted me directly instead of having you defend his chain. i was not picking on him or his chain. i just stated that the chain that marky showed in his pic did not show me much. turns out it was not race chain at all. i missed the part of this tread where you posted your winnings using fales chain but i will go back and look at every post to find it.
also, anyone that knows about race chain can see in my pic it is not complete(ie: the rake is only in the rough stage).
i am still round filing because i have not perfected sqaure file. right now round file is MY fastest. seems to work.
$450.00 split 6 ways, over $1000.00 round trip to the west coast to compete? my math is bad but that does not add up. and i won't get to race against you? geeeeeeeeeeeeze. do you even race?
to everyone else, sorry this tread got so out of hand. marty

chainsawmarty sorry you got offended but thf, cahoon, and barky are all ban. So I thought I could show you a picture of a competion chain. Just a look at what is used out here on the west coast. I don't have a Fales chain but have seen them win at alot of shows. BTW that's $450 for 1st $300 for 2nd on down the line to 6th place not to bad money. What does it pay to win a stocksaw race in your area? I just love to race marty so I'll race ya anytime win or lose. Have you even thinned or stoned a chain?

Not as good as John or Marty's, here is my racing chain.

Perhaps it's the angle, but it looks like one variation of a ripping chain ie:cut at 90 degrees.Am I seeing things?

Nope I Just sand blast mine saves a bunch of time

I don't file or claim to know how to. I do know that Mr Fales probably has the best reputation as a filer. His 1/2 inch is second to none, I have seen many of his chains over the years, they are ???? fast. I only wish I had the patiance and time to make a quality piece like those. I buy the chains I race with. There are more great filers out there than just the ones that people pump up here. The chains I run are as fast as most anything I have ever seen, that is why I buy them. It's just like the crosscuts, bowsaws and axes I use. It is worth more to me to use them right than know how to make them. In closing, it takes more than equipment to win- anywhere you go.

404 tooth stoned and thinned

All you guys are sharp, no fooling yas.

It is a loop of 26 RS full comp chain, ground precisely at 90 degrees doubled row and in side by side contact for the picture. It is for ripping! ;)

Congrats all !

Wish I could file likes Fales or Gypo however, I need to practice, practice and more practice. :dizzy:

The 2 hones on the bottom are what you want to use to stone a chain not the small one.

Surface ground teeth and grinding jig. Will hold 15 teeth.
