Umm woodchop I think it be fair to say that anyone doing what we do looses more than they win in $. Even if you have sponcers....
I also, know the amount of time it takes to set-up a saw weather its stock or modded. As for me I can't even get a chain filed without some guy calling me to rag on me a bit.

As for the GTG, I came up with a good way to test anybodies chain..... Cut for 30 sec straight on Blue Beach (ie. Musscle wood, Iron wood) just doing cookies.... Then do a timed cut off a Basswood... Person that can still make chips is doing real good.

here is my 2 cents, Tommy is 1 of the best filers out there period, I have cut with his chains and tuned saws that had his chains on them, they cut very well, Andy you are correct about Webster, you cannot modify the chassis of the chain at any show in W.V.

As far as east against west , it is 2 totally different ways of racing, the saw motor are different because they cut big wood out there compared to smaller wood here. Sure some guys would have alittle trouble coming out here with the different classes and the way things are ran but it would be the same for any of us going out there and competing, it kinds of scares me to put a alcohol motor in 30 inch wood and do 2 cuts, and as far as them coming out here, Dennis has been out here lots before, he won Hayward and other big shows which were 3 cuts cold start , and you could say the same for Melvin which has won shows out west, it is just 2 different types of racing

Marty asked to see a better picture of Marky's chain so I posted a picture of one of Tom Fales race chains. The chain has won and you got to check it out. So what's the big deal. Go race them if your so inclined but don't ask me for anymore pictures.

Hey Macman, what do you think you're gonna cut with that barbedwire. Even chainsaw Marty could do a better job. LOL
Like the thread says: I'm the Man!

No, I don't think it would be faster than Franks chain. Frank puts alot of time and effort into his chain, but we'll see next week I guess. BTW, can I borrow that chain you showed?

maybe this will put the east/west thing to sleep :)

Hi Marty, nice sharp looking corner. Is that round filed or square? It looks like round from here. Anyway, here's a picture of my barbwire.

john,
yes, it is round. a few years back mike sullivan looked at my chain and was shocked that round file was able to cut that fast.
nice job on your chain. the rivots are so smooth they appear invisable.

Ben, I saw the pic. Oh, cry, horror of horrors. Some people are TOO sensitive. This site is NOT what it used to be.

Where oh where is the pic ?

chainsawmarty did you know Fales files Sullivan's and Jewitt's 1/2" competion chains and has for years. He also did a chain for Jerry Ginrich(sp) in which he was told set a world record, but I'm sure is not the only person doing race chains for him.
If you really believe that round file chain will out cut square chain you need to rethink you position. That chain is also not thinned that will definitly help with more cutting speed and it looks like you've done as much work on the back of the tooth as the front.
