Look up Sheet metal Vise Grip, lock that in your vice, or better yet, get an old rim and some pipe weld the pipe a little higher than waist height then weld the vise grip on. If you want to get fancy mount a nice light off the pedestal.

Rounded over the corners, and flattened the jaws a bit.
