From what I could tell from the pics that Meteor PC should make a 55 a good runner......way better than the OP 55s and with that CP system I would expect a bit less rpm than the OEM CP setup but more torque from a larger bore and the closed port arrangement.......should work very well......then you could port it and bring the rpm back up some!!

Three things to consider, port timing, squish and cc`s/shape of the combustion chamber.

May be a more relevant aspect to this whole Husky 55 discussion than the porting itself. Good call, Jerry.

The pic doesn't do justice to the differences of actual symmetry, but it should be fairly evident if one looks carefully at all three cylinders even with the goofy lens angle.

Ya wanna see a small combustion chamber from this family of saws? I guess it's easy to see why these are such great runners. No, that's not a cut squish band.

I've heard the 590 has a smaller cc than the 55 which shares the same piston. I have one in the shop but I've never been inside of it. I guess I'll have to pull it apart and show all of these sometime (also have a couple of PP 325's)

Velocity and direction from the upper transfers can be regulated/shaped in the closed port cylinders, open, not so much.

I totally agree!

I'm wondering if Joey has a newer good link to the vid he shot comparing the stock and massaged versions of his work? Last time I tried to open the vids, I was redirected to somewhere else.

I have the video on my phone still, I uploaded to photobucket, I'll see if I can get it on YouTube. Shouldn't be a problem.

Cool. I finally got the other link for the other vid to work, too. Had to jump through some hoops since my browser didn't like something about Photobucket.
Any chance you could upload that one to YouTube also? Seems to represent a bit more drastic difference between the two saws, or mebbe it's just me.LOL

I wont show Joey's before and after pics here out of the other thread. Those are his to post if he wants them here. Joeys started out like the 5000 plus topend and went this direction.

Here is the used 590 top.

Sorry fellas, can't find the other video. I still have the saws and might be able to make some new ones.
