A lady up the street called and wanted me to come clean up their trees. Apparently they'd gotten tp'd last week. I've done some work for them in the past, and I know it's an easy climb so I'm gonna try it today. How would you all go about charging this?? I guess I'll just go by my time...

im not sure what you're saying, someone topped the trees, made a balls up and you have to go neaten them up?
if so i'd steer well clear, anyone seeing your truck outside is just gonna assume you did all the works

That is why I quit doing chipping for tree services that don't own a chipper. Don't really make out chipping anyway, even at $150 an hour/1 hour min.

To clear up some confusion, I think when he says TP he is referring to toilet paper? A clean up like that i would offer your services at an hourly rate w/ a set minimum charge.

yep, I meant the toilet paper. I did the job in 1.5 hours for $125. Fine by me, I thought it would take a lot longer, but that's what I quoted them, and they weren't home. I had 2 prospective new clients come ask me about tree work once they saw someone climbing around. So, maybe it was worth it.

If it's toilet paper, it might not be so easy to get it outta the tree.

Ah, I posted too quick. So it came out easy, eh? I always thought doing that would be a real PITA.

Yea, I did some that had gotten wet once and it was all but plastered to the tree, this was still dry and was pretty easy, I actually did most of it with one of those "wire lifters" on my pole saw.

Toilet paper disentegrates readily when wet. Why would anyone bother removing it? First rain or two (or thorough application with the garden hose) and it'd be gone.

though it would be gone fairly quickly, I've seen it stick around for awhile several times after getting wet. Why would anyone pay to remove it?? Well, they were having 16 guest from out of town for a Christmas party over the weekend. I guess they didn't like it......

Funny you should say that. Those same peoples neighbor got TP'd last night. They took care of it themselves, but I bet people would have been suspicious if I'd been there too.
