How maney of you guys actully wear hardhats/climbing helmets EVERYDAY unforutlly i can say everyday it doesnt come out

What about chaps been doing trees for about 3 year worked for a couple compainies and never even seen chaps on the truck anyone like to wear them?

Eighty some odd posts on the subject, how'bouta poll?

I'm sterling with the hardhat: 99.999% of the time.

Chaps....85% of the time

Hard Hat.....90% of the time

Probably worse on the eye protection....

We try to remind each other when we see each other without PPE.

Hmm... Maybe the poll didn't post or something. I wear the helmet religiously now. funny how every little bumb you notice it and say to yourself "that really would have smarted if I hadn't started wearing this here brain bucket". I was climbing up a tree right next to a house a couple of months ago and smacked my head on the underside of the eve going up. Had I not been wearing the helmet it could have very likely knocked me out.

Never even tried a pair of chaps on.

I was having a problem with it taking sarcasm (well it was really character count, but how can you do sarcasm well in less then 100 letters?)

Try it now.

Helmet is on when work is being done.

Chaps I put on when I am getting tired or my footing is questionable.

I want get a pair of chainsaw pants to climb in.

Helmet comes on as soon as I open the back of the truck and is the last item to be put back in.

I checked chaps 99%, but actually wear chainsaw pants. Put them on in the morning and they come off when I get home.

Which pants do you wear?

I wear the Stihl pants. At first they were a little bulky and uncomfortable for climbing, but I'm used to them now. I am considering getting a different pair, SIPs or something similar. I want to try several different brands before spending the $$. Since I've been wearing protective pants for some time now, I don't think I'd feel comfortable operating a saw without the protection on.

95%+ with the hardhat, 100% eye protection.

We've got chaps on the jobsite, but I almost never wear them. I have tried them on tho.....

I too would like a pair of climbing comfortable chainsaw pants.

I like the looks of the pfanners, but the price...... Of course the cost of a cut across the thigh (if I make it to the hospital) would be much higher.

I need to lead by example.

I've also considered getting pants for climbing.

Helmet 99.99%. Chaps 80% on the ground.

My problem with chaps/chainsaw pants is heat and mobility. I do lots of walking and carrying. Sometimes it's stinking hot, add a hill to that and it's downright unpleasent. Being a good Canadian, I can shovel a roof in -40 and it's fun, but working in 30 celsius makes me ill. I have to completely soak myself with a hose every half hour on hot days to avoid barfing.

i wish it only got that hot here. 30c=86f. most of the summer it reaches 95-100f (35-37c) every day

Hey! At least you get mostly sea breezes down there. There is a good reason the old rich folks retire in Florida: the weather is better.

Being well acclimated to mid-west weather, I was stuck in Phoenix in the heat wave of 1981. Apart from burning my hands on everything I touched, I didn't think the dry 115°-120° was nearly so bad as our high humidity at 95°-100°.

I'm good with the helmet but I can only take the massive heat retention caused by the chaps during the coldest days.

Probably worse on the eye protection....

We try to remind each other when we see each other without PPE.

Hmmm... suggest you try to use eye protection a bit more frequently, or you are going to someday have trouble seeing your teammates who are not using PPE !! :) Seriously, I do try to use eye protection as much as possible, especially when power tools/saws are running.

Wear chaps and helmet and safety glass. Don't need any more problems than I already have. What do you climbers wear for safety glasses. I'm the groundie of the company but my brother who is the climber has wood magnets in his eyes! He's tried a couple of different pairs but either fog up or do not stop anything.

Neshkoro? That is another town I've driven through quite often. I used to live on Hyw 23 just outside of Princeton for a few years while I was doing a bunch of oakwilt work in the Greenlake area.

The worst part was that the nearest gym was in Wautoma. I'd love going to Good Ol Days on Puckaway for the Friday fishfry. All you can eat cod, broasted chicken two types of potatoes, baked beans, two types of potato salad....

Man, now I'm hungry... I'm going back to the lunch thread.
