If I wore hat and glasses all the time there was no reply on the poll for me.
:dizzy:

Helmet comes on as soon as I open the back of the truck and is the last item to be put back in.

I checked chaps 99%, but actually wear chainsaw pants. Put them on in the morning and they come off when I get home.

Same here, wear the Husky light weight chain saw pants for the ground, change into my other work pants for climbing. All of my crew has their hard hats on all of the time regardless of what they are doing.:greenchainsaw:

My hat's on all the time. I wear regular glasses so I'm guilty of not having safety glass on ever. But I don't really want to spend the $ for the prescription safety's. Chaps, I wear when doing excessive cutting on the ground. i.e. logging, lot clearing, firewood or high visbility commercial jobs. On a regular residential job I don't put them on.

ive been known to pull into the yard in the morning with my helmet on. its to the point that if i do not have my helmet with muffs and my safety shades on, i dont want to be involved.

i love my helmet and eye protection. love it.

chaps? i own a pair. maybe have worn them but on a few occasions. i am trying to work on that a bit. i did just get a pair of summer chainsaw pants made by husqy. so we'll see.

I had LaBonnieville make a pair of pants for me; I only wear them if I'll be running a saw groundside for long periods. I had them made a bit large, so that they work more like bibs. Suspenders and the high rise (Looks like oldman pants) in the back keeps crap out and they work well as cold weather gear.

They did not charge any more then the list $100 for the special order: 38x41 with extra rise and room in the thighs.

I voted. OK? Personally I feel if you can't take getting whacked on your head then maybe you aren't tough enough to do tree work. Ball caps are good enough and if they ain't you always can rely on luck. That is just my philosophy.

Well not all agree on that point. For one, you are potentially opening yourself up for some serious fines if you get caught. Secondly, ball caps do squat to protect yourself, and if you have anybody (family) who cares about or needs you then please do them a favor and wear the equipment designed to do the job. Even ball players wear a helmet when at bat!

Dan, I suspect that you may have been whacked on the ball cap several times too often.

Oh you know me better than that bro. I voted for hats pretty much always have. I suckered ya, that post was BS, I was just trying to see how the other half lived but got scairt and put my helmet back on. Its not to bad under here.

come-on " rely on luck"?

Everyone always has to wear hard hat, ear muffs, (or ear plugs) safety boots and eye protection, no matter what in my company. We have chain saw pants and use them when we are doing a lot of cutting. And yes they are hot in the summer. Its better to be safe....

labonville is a good spot for sure.

see thats the problem for me and the chaps. if i know i am going to be on the ground cutting a bunch, then yes i try to make sure they are on. but for the most part most of my cutting is in the tree and i dont climb with chaps.

i think i need some suspenders for those chainsaw pants i got. but again, if i am wearing them then i dont think i am going be climbing in them. maybe i give them a go tomorrow.

Yes! I do know you better than that. See my new thread here: http://www.arboristsite.com/showthread.php?t=98822

I checked your poll answer before I responded to the bait.

Har! Har! Har! :chainsaw:

Besides, you are good for that "rely on luck" thing. I still remember you on the clove hitch tied to the ball of your pickup truck.

No, no. If The Dan says its golden then its golden, there are no doubts. Don't let it bother you anymore. Not luck, just know how to seat a clove... and unseat it too.

Lid always in a tree. Eye protection often but I forget sometimes. Chaps on the ground but not a big fan in the summer. But then again not a big fan of chainsaws in the summer either.

As I've got older and have teenager's that run saw's I stress eye and ear protection, as we just cut firewood with little falling,(we follow my cousin's logging crew getting the tops and cull logs) we don't wear helmets, usually cowboy or ball caps, chaps are too hot in the summer, but we wear carhartt
insulated bibs in the winter, they have stopped a accident a time or two, we also wear heavy leather boots, no tennis shoes.
