I have a thornless holly tree that is starting to intrude on things. I would like to clone it and KD the current tree, replacing it with a sapling that will survive. Is this doable, or should I start looking for other trees to replace it?

If you're not in a hurry.... air layer a branch or two to make clones and then move on from mother.
layering seems to work to root almost anything (woody).
There are youtube videos out there if you’re not familiar with the technique (not technical at all).
Only drawback is cloning takes time (of any technique).
Benefit of air layering is you can clone quite a good size branch and have a few years jump from smaller propagation methods.

Thanks. That’s pretty sweet. How long is not a hurry? Couple months, 6 months?
