Guys, I have a Poulan 2150 PRLE that bought refurbished 15 years ago. It has been flawless up until November last year when after sitting in the garage for over a year I tried to use it and fuel was leaking everywhere so I ordered a fuel line and primer bulb from Amazon and replaced all the fuel lines and primer bulb. Once again it ran flawless until yesterday when after cutting up some firewood and shutting it off I sat it down for lunch and when I returned the primer bulb didn't feel right and made a airy noise. It had developed a pin hole. I ran to a local small engine shop and bought a new one got back and changed it out. Now the primer feels fine and fills with fuel however the saw will only start and idle on full choke and as soon as you try to give it fuel it bogs and dies. Is it possible the shop gave me the wrong primer? The old one was clear the new one is red. Any help would be appreciated!

Does it have compression? Pull the muffler and check the piston.
Are the lines on correctly? Does the primer stay full when running? Is the fuel OK? ( check it in a glass jar, do not just say its good, even if you just mixed it).
Sounds like a fuel system issue. I would start there. A carb clean and kit would not be a bad idea.
A possibility of an air and/or vacuum leak.
15 years ago? Time for some deeper maintenance.

The saw is 15 years old but most of that time was spent sitting on a shelf in the garage. I just went through the carb, fuel lines, and primer in November. I used the saw several times in the last month and it ran perfectly, as a matter of fact I was using it when the primer got a hole in it and was squirting gas everywhere. The problem seems to be that the new primer isn't working properly. First I hooked it up exactly like the old one (long nipple to the same hose as old primer) but when pushed in it wouldn't refill so I reversed the lines and it now seems to be working but the saw doesn't run correctly. I don't know if there are different primers or if they are all alike. I have ordered another one from Amazon just like the one that developed the hole and will update this post if that indeed works.

With most primers, the short nipple is the suck one and it is the one that goes to the carb to SUCK fuel out of the carb and dump it into the tank. If in doubt, just TEST it, hook a line to it and see if it will suck fuel out of a container. All issues with primers can be resolved by just disabling them, they have nothing to do with how the saw runs, just makes them start quicker. Pull the primer line off the carb and plug the carb port.
Pull the muffler and inspect the top of the piston for score marks. Can you check compression? Those saws usually have a short lifetime as they come from the factory with the carb set too lean and when they are used for any serious cutting, they overheat and seize.
