I got a 280.00 bonus to go by some climbing boots. Iv narrowed it down to Scarpa Pro Ascents or ArbPro EVO's. Any one ever own one of these boots have any input. Thanks.

I bought a pair of scarpas through the mail, put them on and my feet never hurt so bad in my life. I guess if you have a narrow foot they'd be alright,I wasn't impressed with them considering all the hype. Vasque seems to be the only hiking style boot I can wear, sux they are made in china.

Scarpa boots can be resoled

Not to derail here... But I climb in Lasportiva Makalus with no complaints. Granted they were my backpacking boots and were well broken in by the time I started climbing.

I'm not sure which scarpa boot the OP is referring to. But I can say, that scarpa footwear is quality stuff. Lowa garmont, lasportiva, mammut, all make good stuff as well.

The most comfortable pair of hiking/mountain style boots out there are Salewa, hands down. The Salewa Rapace is definitely worth a look and will probably be my next pair. I bought a pair of Salewa shoes over the summer and they are easily the best shoes I've ever owned. Period.

Since everybody else is not answering your question, I won't either :)

I have the first generation ArbPro and really like them for spikeless climbing. They are not super comfortable walking boots, so I take them off when I get out of the tree (this will also make them last longer). Looking at the ArbPro EVOs, they look like a more traditional sole than the originals, so I don't know. Based on how happy I am with the originals, I'd certainly look hard at giving the EVOs a try. Leather lining is nice.

I decided to go with the Scarpa Pro Ascents. I ordered them from "Tree Stuff". They had some good reviews and the price was the best I could find. I have my fingers cross that they'll live up to the hype.
Last time I paid several hundred dollars on a pair of boot, Redwing loggers, The sole came off after only a few months and they wouldn't honor the warranty, they said I didn't oil them enough. Every pair of socks I owned were blue from all the oil I put on them. Any way been wearing Walmart Brahmas every since. 50.00 and I get a year out of them.
I like climbing in tennis shoes my self(gaffless of course)but they get tore up quick, and it freaks out employers.
