Other than knowing that its a Mono, and the engine is by Tecumseh, I would appreciate any info I can get on this saw.
I am told it runs but I have not had time to mess with it. Thanks

I assume it was meant for a 12:1 or 16:1 ratio, similar to my Homelite Zip

The engine doesn't look too old on that one. I'd doubt it's any earlier than 1960 or so. Like Lobo said, dig through the CC.

They didn't have one-man saws 60 years ago.

I know its not much older than 1960 since it is direct drive. I was wondering about engine specs, when they quit making saws, etc.

According to Mike's site it says about 20 models have the 4.7 c.i. motor (77cc) but there is not pictures so I cant tell them apart.

That's one of the later style fan shrouds for the techumseh motor...looks a lot like the sears ones in the early-mid '60's.

I don't have a list, but its for sure after Techumseh took over power products in the late '50's, and I'm thinking around 1960-62. Maybe a Tech. dealer, or maybe post at the antique engine club asking to get a date on the engine.

Tecumseh marked the serial and type # of the engines in one of 5 places
A) stamped on the starter pully
B) a model & type number plate
C) stamped on the cylinder mounting flange
D) stamped on the crankcase
E) a metal tab affixed to the crankcase
You should find something along the lines
of ...123456 P 238
123456 is the serial #
P is ignition type...=phelon
1210 is the type # ...=AH58
If you find some #'s post em I"ll see if I have them on the list
hope this helps
