My grandpas old 015L stihl/. The chain that is on it does not seem tight enough in the bar groove.
Bar numbers 3005-3613 and the only number I can find on the stihl semi chisel chain is a 3. Thanks in advance
I am wondering if it is supposed to be a larger guage than what the number 3 chain is.

The saw originally had 1/4 inch pitch, which it may still have, the 3 stands
for 1.3, or .050 ga. thickness. measure the distance between three rivets, and let us know what it measures, or find some writing on the bar.
Or post a pic.

Is the bar by chance 58 Guage?

The saw will cut fine then all the sudden the chain takes a sharp turn to either right or left..

There are 2 different gauge chain for the smaller saws. You probably have a 1.1 mm chain on a 1.3 mm bar. It starts the cut fine then turns in the cut.

If the Stihl chain has a 3 on it, then it is the 1.3. They do not have a
.058 ga. with that bar mount pattern. If it is a 1/4 inch pitch chain, the new one will be pretty expensive and kind of hard to find. The tiny cutters are hard to sharpen correctly. To switch to 3/8 picco chain, you will need to change bae/chain/sprocket and oil pump gear, very expensive that way.
