I've got some serious problems now, I just put a machine back together and I cant get the thing to stay running for more than 2 seconds, the H L screws dont do a bit of good, it just pumps more fuel in every time I pull the starter cord, WHAT on gods green earth is causing this? I have thus far taken the whole carb apart, cleaned every last thing in it, switched the gaskets around 2000 times and NOTHING works, it just floods itself every time I try to start it. I've put the engine back together right, the gaskets are all there and in good shape, I dont know where there would be any leaks, I'm very frustrated with the thing and about to just put it on the road for some truck to run it over.

I've NEVER had this problem before, not one time when I've rebuilt a 2 stroke has this happend to me. I cant figure it out and its really getting me P!SSED off! Spark is strong and blue, the plug is even gapped perfectly, plus I have all mew fuel lines in the unit and it STILL floods itself. Plus I cant get any real suction from the pickup line when I push the primer bulb either, it just sucks the gas up 1/4" and it just goes right back down the tube again.
Oh well, I'm just frustrated with this thing right now, I'll be back at about 8:00 or 10:00 PM to see what you guys can tell me that may just be of help with this infernal thing.

Oldsaw,
Could you inadverntly put the diaphram in upside down? If this happened the metering needle will send gas directl into the engine If this has happened the gas has to go someplace so the enguine does not know the difference except that it is now flooding. Ken

One time I got a mismanufactured metering needle in a Walbro repair kit that had a slight burr on it. It would hang in the hole and not seat the needle tip and flood just like you described.
From your description I would think it's either the metering needle or lever giving you the problem.

Because the primer wont deliver, I would check the check balls or flaps. If they are not present to restrict flow, intake vacuum will pull fuel full flow of the primer line. Disconnect and plug to eliminate. The needle and seat certainly is possible too. Have seen the viton tip get lost and you get lotsa gas that way too.

I know I didnt reverse the primer and pickup lines, so I dont think thats where my problem is, but I'll look at the other suggestions too, Thanks guys.

flooding

Got a small pressure guage? I use my air test guage , hook it to the carburetor inlet and pump it up to about .4 bar (sorry, it came from Stihl, so it's metric). The needle should hould pressure for a minute, ten would be better. I am willing to bet that it won't hold anything.

Look for a bad needle, corroded seat, high lever, lever binding on the axle. You should beable to spin the axle in the lever without the lever moving.

Also pump up the metering side, it should hold also.

Thanks for your help guys, I found the problem, I aparently put the wrong thin gasket in the carb. All is well now, it works like a NORMAL carb should work, I appreciate all your insight.
