I hope I don’t get as tough a time as some on their first post but it wouldn’t be the first hazing I’ve gotten. I have been lurking for some time now. I’m not one to ask much. I do a search and I find most questions like “My saw quit…what’s wrong” asked 2K’end different ways, I’ve read most of those. I do think it’s time I should give thanks, not just because its Thanksgiving, So...Thanks!! to everyone that has given me such useful info in the past year I started this hobby, I did create a monster though, and you helped. When I moved to the mountains and I was told I needed two things, a shotgun and “a” chainsaw. Well I already had both but the chainsaw has been the most useful so far. I now have over 30 since this time last year, fixed and sold a bakers dozen or so. I bought a cheapie Poulan 21something for 10 bucks at a yard sale, changed the fuel line, cleaned it up and sold it for $50. I bought another and did the same again. I have several on the bench right now and I work on them a little each week. Stihl is my favorite but I like the old Poulans too, or old anything. I now have so many running it’s hard to decide which one I want to use for firewood today. They are like my children, secretly not letting the other know I'm playing favorites because you know you can never do that, but right now shhh its the Poulan 4200 I have ripping curls. Hi to all and Thanks again. I'm quiet but always reading and learning, I attached a few photos for you to see what I have going on. ITS ALIVE!!

Yes, I would say that you have the fever. Nice looking saws especially the Poulans. Go to the top of the page and click on the "stickies" link. Then look for the Poulan thread. You can get any help you may need there and they would like to see the pictures of the Poulans. Tom

A few of those saws really caught my eye... The 031... The two poulan in the upper left corner... Looks like a 3400 and maybe a 4000? And what i think is wither an xl 101 or a super ez auto? :)

Now that is a nice buncha saws. Just don't stand up too quickly in that garage/barn unless you wear a helmet all the time.

First post and gift of pics of your collection for everyone to check out...
Got some rep coming tomorrow as thanks.
Oh, and Welcome to the the site !

(maybe someone can rep him now. I'll owe you one)

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I don't plan on giving advice just yet. I do like tinkering and I found something actually affordable compared to hot rod cars which has been a few years since that. I have always fixed lawnmowers for friends from time to time. Louisiana is where I'm from and I did have a chainsaw which I used here and there on the property but since moving to the mountains where I burn a little wood for heat chainsaws became so much fun. The ones hanging in the barn are in need of repair the rest I have running usually with very little effort and money but a lot of patience. Yes they all are for sale...I guess... I'm still having fun with them for now though, the old Poulans that is. All I wanted is to see them run and now that they do I plan to take them all the way down, repaint and decal them before I sell. I picked up 2 028's for 100 bucks a couple of months ago and just sold them for $150 each. All I did was clean the carbs and new lines, sharpen the chain and a little spit shine, put on CL and they were gone in 2 days. I kept one 028 I picked up for $75 w\case not running because it was in cherry condition, probably not sell any time soon. Hanging in the barn is a S10, 032 and a 042, all need fixing. I put a 24" bar on a nice 031, figured I'd try it till I get the 042 running, it so far pulls it real good. I thought is would be to big but it was fun to try. I'm going to put a 24 or 28 on the P245A and see what she will do.

BTW: What does "rep" mean? lol Is that a good thing? I have read this before but don't know what it stands for.

Yes I have 2 3400's, one hanging and one running. I think that is a 4000 also, not sure, I need to go out there and take inventory I guess. If its hanging its not running...yet!! Oh yea several S-EZ's , an 032, 042, the 031 I have runs.

Welcome aboard, I wish I read this post a week ago. I was down visiting family in bristol (10 hour drive). I would have loved to see some saws after that drive. Rep is reputation, its our way of showing you we like you. I repped you, cause I like saws and tinkering too. My BIL is a basketball coach at Kings college in bristol how far do you guys live from Bristol? I'll be going back down in the spring. OH YEAH that is a awesome collection, kinda looks like a meat locker. I wish I had that many to fix!

Thanks, I'm about 2 1\2 hours south of Bristol. It's been 2 years since I went to the race, wife is a big NASCAR fan. I wish she felt the same way you do about whats hanging in the barn. :wink2:

Saw your AS name and having flown floatplanes all over southern Louisiana was trying to figure out how the mountains played in. Then I noticed the East TN part. Ah, now it all makes sense. Quite a change in topography for sure. I love mountains. (and Cajun food). Don't have either here in this part of Georgia.
