Talk about old tyme grunt!! Check out these Maine made units from many years back....they could really move some wood!!!! Scarey as hell though...the driver/operator sat at the very front in a wooden shed/outhouse right behind the steering runners.......these things had no brakes what-so-ever.......great care taken on a down hill grade....

Here's a good modern vid giving a great explanation/history of the Lombard Log Hauler. This one was/is totally restored by the Leonards Mills Museum just up the road 30 miles or so.
