A few days ago M.D.Vadan made a statement on another thread of something that he had tried on ruts in the sod.
"He hired me to fix the ruts. I pushed a pitchfork with cast tines down into the soil and fluffed it back up by prying with the fork."
That made sense to me. Because on occasion I too will dent someone's lawn when chunking down pieces and I have tried filling it in and other things, but it still seems to show too much. I went out and purchased a garden fork, a heavy one with cast tines. I was chunking down this week on a large spruce tree from 40 feet up onto the brush pile. When I was finished I found that there was one dent in the lawn about four inches deep. I used the fork and fluffed it back up, it looked like new. It worked perfect. I salute you sir, that was a good idea.
