Several people I know including me of have tried the chain type farm elevator route and it doesn't seem work well. The wood has a way of getting caught here and there and bang goes the chain, at least that was the problem with mine. They would work better with a well designed slip clutch but mine would either not slip soon enough or not drive the elevator. I never could hit the happy medium.
