They both look greeeaaattt but the unpainted handle and pike stile start grip looks more original except my EZ6 is all original and has the clean handle with green grip and the rectangle starter handle but I like the pike look better

Thanks, both in the photo are the same saw. I don't believe the handle is painted - looks like a thin plastic sheath. One other thing I forgot - the saw came with what I believe is the later design cylinder with vertical fins on top instead of flat rounded ones. The second saw had the small grip and the flat rounded fins but the serial # is higher. Can I make it more confusing?

Listed as 57cc.
24in bar.
not skip,FC.
seemed like a lot to me !
i can use it on something else tho that will handle it :)

That bar was probably ran on it for reach more than cuttin' big wood. It will 'pull' it, but not with great speed. I wouldn't go burrying it in 24" or more of oak..

I know my XL12 balances best with an 18" bar. I run an old 20" sprocket tip Oregon bar with some semi-chisel on the SXL-AO just for reach, as it's my 'dirty wood' limbing saw. I mostly cut widfalls....

OK So I know it's a Homlite Super XL- something!
Thats about as much as I know.
It's a great chaisaw, wailing through anything in it's way, but the starter drive (the bit with the rope lol) is now worn to the point where it doesn't engage, so now I need a replacement piece. Any ideas guys?
I don't want to retire this saw as I can't afford a new one!
Thanks again.

Here's a question I've been meaning to ask. Which handle in the photo is older? The solid green wrap was on this saw when I got it but the owners manual shows the one with the small grip.

pretty sure the small grip came first, mid fifty's.

I have some saws clear up too the late 60's with that same green wrap.
One is an 1100

Got in another NOS general bar today.
Made for an earlier XL series, probaly XL923-924

Hung it on the SXL 925. 34" hardnose .050 gauge.

Wont be getting it dirty though. Up to about 10 NOS generals now,
half of them fit homey's. :)

My guess is its a XL-130. Candian version in the XL-1xx series. Looks very much like a XL-123. Nice saws!
