it has to do with the sound of the engine and the feel of the saw and knowing that back in the day it was one of the best built chainsaws and built right here in the good ole USA. I still love the feel of a old torque saw over a new RPM saw.

You're not crazy. Maybe a little eccentric....
The 'modern' saws are where it's at for day-in day-out production (and may be all that and a bag of chips as far as speed and comfort are concerned.........there had to be SOME progress in the last 40 years), but they just flat don't have the solid, quality feel, the sound, or the SOUL that you'll ONLY get with the Old Magnesium. Since I don't make my living with a chainsaw, the Old Magnesium is where it's at for me. It does fine for the firewood cutting I do, and it's what I just plain enjoy running and working on.

That's all I use them for as well. I just always want the right tool for the job or potential job. In the chainsaw dept I have a 16", 20", 24", and 28" covered. Where I'm at thats about got me covered. I would love a 100cc saw but right now I just can't swing $300. On a somewhat related note my wife found that I now have not 2 saws but 4. We are supposed to be on a budget and she is very gung-ho about it. I got disapproving looks and comments for a few hours, but I survived.
If anyone gets a lead on a 100cc old school saw let me know. I'm trying to stuff some money away but so far its slow going.

To fill my big saw fix, there will be another red saw here in the shop... I will share once it arrives. I will say that the brand starts with "H", and is 6+ cubes
I fibbed just a little. Saw is 7 cubes, and should be here late this week. Just got off the phone with my "connection."

This one needs a new handle, so maybe I will make a custom wood handle???
My only Homelite a 330 .I paid $27 for it and replaced the boot runs well now and has been playing/cutting with the others
this is when I was taking it apart not much use on it at all the bar and chain are original with very little wear

The 330 I had really surprised me and it had an 18" bar on it. The biggest down side was the air cleaner to me.
Does not take long to fill it completely
I sold mine on Craigs list. I think it was going to see some hard use from the buyer. I would almost not ever see the buyer after that like you do on evilbay. Seems to be a little less sellers remorse that way:msp_ohmy:

Hmm that Sez reminds me about the one i recently stole (sorry struggle). All I have to add is 150 psi. Still needs new fuel line and filter.

I seen an auction near me that has something listed of interest with a rather light description of a saw I might have to go check out and if you should show up I can't be accountable for what might happen...just saying:msp_ohmy:

After last saturday i have plenty of projects. Finaly found a 150 just as a shelf sitter. She is locked up and dirty but could be spair parts for $2 they just look so diffrent. Got a nice roper/craftsman 3.7 the starter wouldnt pull. Needed a finger on the flywheel to turn over first time.
This one needs a new handle, so maybe I will make a custom wood handle???
I can always send the wooden handle back to you. :msp_tongue:
