Kids watching us cutting, splitting, stacking, and cussing should be incentive to stay in school..
When my son was way little, my wife asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up. He said, "I don't know what I want to be, but I know I don't want to be a tree man or UPS man." Both the things that I've done. I told him if he didn't want to do manual labor all his life he better get smart. He graduated from MD U with dual majors in Physics and Computer Science, then got his masters in Computer Science. So, he doesn't have to dig ditches.

Whats this "watching" you speak of lol. My dad had me out there cutting, splitting, and stacking by the time i was old enough to start a saw or pick up firewood. Guess it musta rubbed off bc i got about 4-5 years worth of wood stacked currently.

Had an opportunity to run a 32" bar on the XL-924 on the weekend. I've had the saw for a couple years, but never ran it in wood. I can confirm now that it pulls really hard. My brother (who's only saw is a Stihl MS170) was suitably impressed running it in this 30" cedar.

note the sheet metal add-on for the clutch cover. Its factory as far as I can tell, I think they added them as a safety feature, otherwise your fingers are really close to the chain.

I run a 36" bar on my 923. Ive run it on the mill some. I was really impressed how it pulled. Id like to come across a super 925 sometime. My dad snagged the 923 from a yard sale for i think 5 or 10 bucks

Whats the difference between the 923/924/925? they're all 82ccs right? I was under the impression they were all basically the same.

Yeah this one has a funny 2 piece ignition and when I got it I paid maybe $20 for it? it had no spark and a bunch of wires with broken insulation. Cleaned it up and heat shrink tube on all the wires and it runs. Hard to start when its been sitting more than a couple days though.

Honestly im not sure. My 923 has points so it had compression release. The 925 is electronic ignition. Some replacement cylinders were only 77ccs bc of heat issues

I saw this thread in the forums the other day after joining up so I pulled out my dads old super mini. Haven't run it in 5 or 6 years, I gave it some fresh gas and pulled it over couple times to prime it and it fired right up on about the 10th pull. Shes a good old saw for sure.

He gave it to me about 10 years ago and I've used it a bit here and there.

Nice machine. I've a 922 and 902 that came with the extra finger guard over the clutch cover. With the wrap handle, one's digits are pretty close to the chain. I imagine more than a few got tossed after awhile. Tight fit and even more so once bent a bit. One of mine is a real treat to wiggle on/off.

I dabble in acquiring and repairing older Homi saws and once running to my satisfaction they become wall hangers. These saws as i am sure you all know have duck bills in the fuel and oil systems.I would like to order a couple of dozen for present and future use.My question is:has anyone ordered any from CHINA that would serve the purpose? There are so many different ones listed on FLEA bay and no dimensions, i wouldn't have a clue as to which one to order.Any help would be greatly appreciated.
