If it wasn't a XL2 power head I would say get it but ask only for what you will pay for the grinder attachment.

Funny but that dont look like any of the XL power heads i have..
some strange looking stuff on that..
look closely..
never seen a muffler like that either ??

Homelites model designations made more sense than McCullochs.
Look at their 1-whatevers, they range from 54cc through to mega monsters. Only a couple models had a G for Geardrive.

Was contacted by the owner of this "thing" . he works for the RR and they let him have it.
he said years ago he used it for some reason to grind on railroad ties..
i asked if if was a cutoff saw modified and he said no,was made specifically by homelite for the railroads to do one job.grind on rails..for whatever reason i dont know and didnt ask..
he said they had to have a new p&c quit awhile back and they sent it in and bill was over $1k,,he said about 1/2 the price of what it cost new..
now i'm only repeating what i was was told and never heard of a rail grinder before so dont hold ME responsable for what i'm passing on..
he was adamant about the fact these were a special unit made only for the railroads.. i dunno ??
anybody ever see one ??
i havent asked yet what he wants for it..
these are the pix he sent me..

That a pretty clean unit you have there Cliff. Did it come with that clearing bar (Homelite terminology!), or did you fit it for the shoot? She looks great!

Well done.

Regards,

Chris.

Thanks,
The saw came with no bar and chain, so I put a Clearing bar on.
I have a few Bow and clearing bars hanging around just waiting
for the right saw to come along.:)

A page or to back I posted that a person is going to bring me a saw that he was going toss. He is to be here today as I just talked to him and he said it is a.....................C-51 convertible. It supposedly used to run very well. He thinks it has at least a 24" if not bigger:clap:

I will post pictures as soon as I get my grubby paws on it. Said it is blue with a red chain cover as the original on e cracked and he could not find a blue replacement one.

Not sure if it will run but it sounds liek it will soon

Just started rebuilding my c51 tonight its been a great saw but quit me this summer cant wait to get it running

Thanks guys, I go out into the garage and am kind of overwhelmed on what I want to take on now. I have a habit of starting to many projects and things get misplaced and I one step forward and then three back. My leaf blower is across my tool box and spilling onto the bench. I am waiting for parts on that before I go to the next thing. I also need to finsih my ceiling in the garage. IT is drywalled but I need to tape it. I thas been a long process over the last couple of years.

The last couple of weeks CAD wise have been a bit of a wild ride.

Wife asked tonight how many saws do you have:msp_confused: I said I don't know. She piped up well I know exactly how many shoes I have in my closet and her knowing how I am expected me to know the answer as to how many are there. I went into the garage and forgot to count them. I kind of get sidetracked out there dinking around.

I have one less as my 290 sold but forgot mention someone gave me another one:cool2::D
