I have a blue homelite chainsaw that I need help identifying. I resembles the blue homelite XL-12 in Mr. Acres website but is not identical. It has an 18" bar, the manual oiler button is right on top of the trigger handle and you push it in to oil. The choke button is to the right of the oiler button. I tried to post pics but it said files were not accepted from foreign servers. I'm in NC so I hope i'm not foreign? Saw has no identifying plates or serial numbers. I suspect it might be a super XL? Can someone help?

Upload the pictures from your computer, then it will accept them. what you have may be an XL, or something like that. they made a blue XL once.

I am trying to upload pics from my computer and it keeps telling me that posts are not accepted from foreign host.
The saw has a Tillotson carb if this is any help.

Send the pics to me and I will have go at it.

I think you have the pics on the web somewere, that is why it acts up.
Download the pic to your desk, and send it here.

The bar oil fill is on the top right, in front of the handle, looking from the trigger end towards the bar.

Hello fixitman:

Do they look like either of these 2 saws. the Homelite, C-5 and C-51. The saws are basicly the same except for the air filter cover. Take care. Lewis.

Yes it looks like one of these saws, I can't tell what the difference is in the air filter cover by looking at the pics, the old eyes ain't what they used to be! Could you explain the difference.

To fixitman:

Hello, the sides on the C-51 are opened up more, see the holes or slots in the side of the air filter cover. Also the C-5 has a small aluminum muffler with say 8 slots in the end of it, where as the C-51 had a sheetmetal muffler with 3 slots for outlets with internal baffles. If you want go to: http://www.acresinternet.com/cscc.nsf?OpenDatabase click on the brouse saw link,go to Homelite and check out the various models he has links for. Good luch. Lewis.

No need to attach the image if it's already available on the Web.

Just surround the URL for the web picture with URL-to-image and it will be available within the post as an image or a link, depending on the viewer's settings. Or you could just put the link in the text of your post and let everyone who wishes to do so click on it.

Thanks to everyone, I have identified my saw as a C5, now to try to get it running. I took the carb apart and the diaphragm is dry and hard. will get a carb kit, condenser and points. Also is the fuel line hard to change on this model? It seemed hard and was cracked at the carb. Can this be replaced with standard line or must a homelite part be used? Thanks again!

The air filter cover has a low front end, and the starter seem softer around the edges.
I think this is newer than your's Lewis.
