Start it out rich on the high side and lean it down until it does not blubber and sings under a load.

It is unusual for a mid to high hour motor to seize if it had proper lubrication. Did it have other signs of damage? Like hung or broken ring?

Very good older saw. lot's of tork. when you get it together do a leakdown check. that old of a saw is very likely leaking. if a crank seal is leaking may only show with vacuum test. may run ok until it get's warm then run lean. fuel mix: 32:1 carb: 1 turn on both screw's. later sxl925 did not have high side jet.

Excellent saw!!! I love mine. Its a tourk :monkey:

Can I ask where you got your cylinder?

I would like to do some port work on mine and would rather have something to practice on before I start tearing into mine.

How bad it your old one? Got any plans for it?

Now I understand why you wanted that rod.......

cylinder

I found the cylinder on ebay ive searched all the places I could find everyone told me NO for parts so ebay it is also some parts available here www.milacalawn.net they also have an exploded view with parts numbers. Thanks to all who responded to my thread I sure am glad to of found this site I thought I was all alone to want to restore my old junk or since ive been here VINTAGE DIECAST machine.

seize (TWO WHEELS)

as far as other signs the first time it seized I was using it to cut a large piece of hardwood on its side (someone wanted to make a table) it seized and I later put it back in op by oiling the cylinder etc the last time it quit was the same thing had it on its side the worst of the damage was right about the exhaust port piston had moderate damage seizure in the ring area but I didn't notice any cracked rings poss. stuck as it seemed not to have normal amount of power. I will also try the vacuum test. after rebuild Thanks again:chainsaw:
