TN,
Hay guys, I have a problem with my saw.Maybe you can help me out.The saw runs like a champ now that I put a carb rebuild kit in it.Problem is I'll take and cut some wood with it. And it locks up on me.I can't pull the rope,so i pull the plug and shoot some PB blaster in the hole and get it loose .I was thinking that some how i forgot to put the oil in RITE wrong I even got new gas and mixed it 32 to 1... i don't know the mix,I fig.go a little heavy rite . I don't think it would be 16 to 1 or what. I also looked at the exaust it seems to be just fine...thanks for any info....

Older high-power Homelite saws like the SXL-925 ran on 16:1 even after other models had gone to 32:1. I don't know if yours is one of them, but I think it may be.

Are you sure your high speed mix is rich enough? You want it to "four-cycle" or burble when you gun it unloaded. Whatever's causing this, don't use it until you find out.

EZ

It is called a lean seize. No mix of oil will stop it. You are too lean ,get the high side richened up fast. If it will not, check the rest of the fuel system for leaks. Hard to believe it still idles.

I agree! It's LEAN. I rebuilt (piston/cylinder) an old Jonsered 49SP and nearly lost it to a too lean high speed adjustment. You want the no load high setting to be rich so the saw has some grunt when it's under load.

Hello, I bet that the saw is fine and not blown. I think a screw behind the flywheel is backing out and jamming into the back of the flywheel, causing a temporary lockup. Remove the starter cover, then the flywheel, take out the three screws under the flywheel and apply some lock-tite to prevent it from happening again. Good Luck, let us know what happens! Jonathan
