Ten bucks! It's not totally complete but I just needed a few parts to complete another one and they're on it. Actually the only parts missing were the chain and the little metal piece that connects the top bar to the saw. It cleaned up pretty well.

C'mon..Good for you!..:clap:I'm always looking for those deals. Oh Well:chainsaw:

There's a flea market covering several acres that's about 40 miles from where I live. I go there about every other week and look the goodies over. Last week, not only did I get the Homelite XL12, I also got a Pro Mac 55 with a 24 inch bar and chain for $20. I started it as soon as I got home and it's a pretty good running saw. I'm kinda cleaning it up and might paint it.

There's a flea market around my house that I need to go to. I used to go and see all kinds of old chainsaws there. I wasn't very interested in those things. Now I am. I'm gonna go Sunday and see what I can pic up. Do you think this thing is worth 20 bucks??

It's and xl-12...An old Homelite X-12 chainsaw with a 16 inch bar. It appears to be in decent condition for its age. The engine has compression but didn't start last time I tried. The blade and chain don't have much wear. Asking $20 or best offer. That's what the ad says. What do you think??

If that one had been at my local flea market, I probably would have snatched it up. That one probably just needs the old fuel drained if it has any and new fuel lines and carb kit installed, maybe a new sparkplug also. Since the ad says "best offer" you might be able to get it for $10 or $15. It's worth a try.

Picked it up the other day for 15 bucks. Drained the fuel and she fired up. I just need to mess with the carb. She only runs with the choke out. I'll do a carb rebuild when I get a chance.

It probably does and those are pretty easy to rebuild. When you rebuild it you might as well go ahead and replace that fuel line. If yours has the grommets it will be easy to change the fuel line, if not you'll need to find some unless you use that big line that Homelite came out with.

I think I have one more XL12 to finish up. I used a couple of XL12s for parts to make it complete but I think it still needs a fuel line and carb kit to get it running right. I've been working on a like-new XL2 (I know they're not the same) that's hardly been used. I took it apart to clean it and it wasn't very dirty inside, you hardly ever see that in a saw that old. It needed a fuel line and a couple of duckbill valves, now it purrs like a kitten! I'll try to get pics today if I can.

Throw some pics up!. I forgot to mention that I sprayed some carb cleaner in her and when she fired up a bunch of crap came out. You know like carbon or something. When I get time I'll clean her up good.

Ok, I hope these pics come out all right, I'm not an expert with this..

I think this is the first saw I've had other than new ones where you could read all the decals on the bar and on the saw. I guess I did have one that was straight gassed some time ago. Not the case here, this one runs fine.

If you intend to use it I don't recommend painting it. I did that to my XL12 and now it's too pretty to use!
