Homelite/Textron history ?

Hello,
I have a few 8800's which don't have chain brakes, I wonder why?

I know where there is a BRAND NEW Homelite 23av with a chain brake. How about I trade you this nice, safe saw for that unsafe old relic 8800?

Really intersting Jonathan. Have a couple different IPL versions for 8800 and the 540. All show with a chain brake. Not surprized that a variant is out there without it though. Be great to learn the full scoop on this. Really do like the 540 and 8800s. Always good to learn more about them.
