Homelite XL Helper Winch

Can someone shed some light on the homelite xl with helper winch? Believe the winch is cobra brand.
I want to know primarily if it is detachable from the homelight and can be attached (easily) or with modding to a stihl.

Also, when were these units manufactured?

I'm not exactly sure when this winch was produced but the XL series saw dates to the mid 70's early 80's.
Several companies, as well as Cobra, adapted the power head for all sorts of applications including small generators and trash sump pumps.

With enough ingenuity, time and money .... I'm sure you could adapt your winch to another engine.
But, why bother.... unless the XL is totally trashed.
Cheap XL's abound on Craigs and eBay and most parts are readily available.
Remember though, the XL wasn't a power house of energy but this was a great helper.
