Hey all you arborists, what's the largest saw (powerhead) you or your employer owns? Just curious to know what you use for stump cuts and bucking big wood.
Brian, before you post a reply....I know the 066 has only been out a few times and the 046 is all you need :D

Jeff

Stihl 084... Next size down is a pair of 044s.
I went over a year with the 44s when the big saw was out of commision. It's nice having the long bar for felling big trees in tight quarters where the gun has to be exact.
We haven't cut big wood for firewood in years so the saws don't ever get worked too hard these days.
God Bless All,
Daniel

165,
Nice pic... when was it taken???
You probably know by now that the eye of the sling should go around the shackle's pin to prevent the pin from rolling as the slack in the cable is taken up. I learned that from Richie Knowles, the undisputed best crane operator around here for tree work.
God Bless All,
Daniel

Hey Brian, I noticed your not hanging onto the side of that tree with Gaffs either.

big saw

husky 3120 Once had one of those groundie that worked in the woods. He was the skidder not the timberjack. He thought that he would help me out and sharpen the big saw. After I was hauled into the tree I found out that he had removed the rakers. He never even carried my saw again:angry:

For big sawing I 've got a husky 3120, stihl 066 and I retired the beast in the picture.
If I was'nt a horsepower junkie, the 066 would be enough.
Anybody recognize the saw? (hint, 111cc's.)
My back hurts all over again looking at it.
Dave

Currently the biggest on the truck is a Husky 268XP. There is a 066 under consideration though. I may wind up with an046 instead. I like performance but hate unnecessary weight. I don't make many big cuts.:)

044 with 30" bar with muffler mod. Looking for an 066 this summer. I want to leave a 20" bar on the 044 --love that saw!!
