You have to remember that there is no market for firewood here, we pay to throw it away at the dump. 95% of my cutting is brush and small wood under 10". I rarely have to block down big wood, but have the 026 for stuff too big for my Echo.

Big trunks can almost always be dropped and cut up small enough for the equipment to load after it's on the ground, but that's only the last hour on large removals. I usually leave that for the guys I'm climbing for, or I may use their big saw to block out the trunk for the Bobcat and make the stump cut. I cannot remember the last time I needed more than one tank of fuel for a big saw on a job. If I have to choose between $800 for a big saw or a few extra tanks of fuel in my 026, guess which I'll choose?

Yeah Brian But you sure got excited Using my 046 to saw up that trunk the last day you were up here.

I have a 066 with 28" bar and 36" bar saving to buy and 088 to run that 36" bar little big for the 066. Use the 066 on almost every removal with 28" bar but wish had one between the 28" and 36". Lots of very big trees around here.

066 magnum w/ 36" bar. That is more than enough for me. It gets used on maybe a dozen trees a year or so. Most of the time my 044 w/ 25" bar is just fine for what I need. I do want to pick up another 044 though, as well as an 026 and an 036, along with another 020. Oh well, a man is always allowed to dream. :p

066,motor saw390, 026,motor saw 200T, husky 50, dayton (poulan) I use the 066 quite often, if not using the 390. when all else fails get out the old H-50. I like my husky 55 as much as any of the boss's

Sounds like the 066 is a pretty popular saw. It's also one of the saws I considered for my next purchase. Unfortunately I wasn't able to afford one at this time soooo.....I bought a used 394. I've never purchased a used saw before but, I had a hard time justifying the cost of a new one for the amount of use this big saw is going to get. Hopefully it's as good as the seller said it is.

Biggest saw.

:blob2: STIHL 090 with 60 inch bar, 132 CC of power! (old saw but like new), and 066 with 28 and 36 bar, and 044 with 24 bar when 066 is to heavy in tree! 090 only comes out for the big removals or flush cuts that the 066 can't handle, but 066 is ussually preferred. Can't beat the power the 044 packs by anymeans great saw and would not trade them for anything.

Whoa, how big is my what?:Eye:

edit- ........Clear thinking for me, is also 50' in the air; then sometimes trip on the ground! My Old 44 runs circles around a new 44/46 and is a fast precision cutting MF'r with a 16" bar!

Paying .01/#; $20/ton to dump.
