cords

i got 8 cords left to sell this year and 13 cords in logs. I will be going up to around 40-60 next year..then looking to lease farm land and get bigger from there. I got a great spillter but if i up my production the way i hope to a second bigger splitter is on the way along with a second saw and a little part time help. If you got a big enough truck ill supply the wood you deliver and take the big profit selling wood in the cape...has to be up over 300 there right ?

Ya, prices on the cape are high.

im getting 280/ cord delivered for hardwood blend and 150/ cord for softwoods. Some guys are getting 350/ cord , like at Agway grain store. i made a deal with the local stump dump yesterday to take the wood that is dumped there and cut/ split it up for them and re-sell it to them for 200/ cord. its a low end price but little overhead and free wood. I know the owners and i do all of my landscape/ Tree work with them so things worked in my favor. also the let me season it out back of the pit no charge!!!!

post your pile

i know there is plenty of people who have tons more firewood but what are you all scared...post some pics of the size your pile to mine...i know i dont have the biggest pile on here but hey guess its just a guy thing and i want to know were i stand in the world of wood piles. :hmm3grin2orange:  :hmm3grin2orange:

11 cords shown in pictures last month , cut sence Dec-Feb . 5 more cords just finished this month not shown in pictures .16 total cords. Not a seller supply - just homeowner stock.

How about some SELLING of fire wood pics. First pics were home owner supply. Below pics are the business end .

you talk about stacking your wood on pallets--if you know of somone taking down a old cement stave silo--get the cement slabs--lay on ground--great for stacking wood on--just dont drop one of the staves on your foot----DONT ASK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got a restaraunt near where I work that tosses out pallets about 2 or 3 per week. I pick them up, and now have about two dozen, I think. Freebies are great!

tomorrow.....

I just got in from getting my bucket truck from the lot I park it in.. There's been some theft there, so I brought all my stuff home. I'll go up in the bucket tomorrow and get some good pics of what I got on the ground...
Now, I don't do as much as Gish, but he's got 3 multiteks....

Heres your request for a pile of wood up against yours

ya see here in upstate n.y. everyone burns lots of wood, so we have to keep up with the demand for the wood. so i thought i would share the photos of our wood with you since your asking. we get it from a local farm of 1200 acres, all we have to do is help with hay.The wood is free for us.

logs

thats alot of logs...my problem now is land to process the wood on...supply, money, people, and sales is not the issue its space to process...go figure...we are working our issues out as we speak for next season....the criss cross stacked wood does that hold the ends up good and do you do it every half cord ??? how many cords a year and what gear you sporting ??

All ends of face cords(4x8x16) 1/3 of a cord are blocked up to stablize pile and seperate face cords which seems to be working out fine for when the snow hits. As far as gear used: 1986 chevy silverado k-5 blazer with 4 inch suspension lift and 33 inch tires gets us in the woods and is used for pulling logs to where they are bucked up(splitter)3 stihl saws, nothing heavy duty, a home-made splitter, and a pace 6x10 single axle trailer. for the big stuff the farm lends us a small dozer, old international dump truck and john deer tractors when needed. my wife and I do all of the work ourselves when im not at my full time job. Maybe in your area you can find farmers(hay or dairy)that will trade space on their land for occasional help on the farm? Ya never know until you ask.(thats how we met these farmers)

2006/2007 Wood

Here is my wood stash for the winter. I usually burn between 10 and 13 face cords a heating season. I have a new stove for this season.... the manufacturer says it will burn 30-50% less wood.
