Just getting into the swing off my off season, enjoying the fact that I no longer have to get up so early, had a pretty good season learned alot and got much better at rigging heavy/really large wood, Had my fisrts evermajor injury on the job, was being a tard and clmibed a 20'' ladder without my harness to retrieve a throw ball, lost my balance and went for a ride, just about broke my pelvis, so not to pleased about that missed 3 solid weeks ofwork and a few more before I could climb again. On a positive note we picked up a few new rooks this year all great workers and finally got a back up climber so I don't have to climb everything

Was wondering how 2012 treated all of yous?

PS. On my tablet typing is horrible on this thing

Jan.-Had a big new saw stolen. MS660
Feb.-Wife in hospital.
March-I was sick half the month.
April-Son gets divorced, moves back in with us.
May-Wife has 10 inches of colon removed...diverticulitis.
June-Worried about wife all month.
July-Worried about wife all month.
Aug.-Son hooks up with chick whose situation is actually worse than his. Thought to be impossible.
Sept.-Pretty unremarkable.
Oct.-Have super knock down drag out with client. End up eating $1,100 of bill.
Nov.-Back went out again day before Thanksgiving. Could barely move for five days.
Dec.-Docs tell me based on x-rays back is shot.

Had a good year. Bought some new equipment and finally have a good crew. Bought an old Lumber truck in the spring and built a body for it. Thats been working out very nice. A no longer employed by me employee rolled over my SC252 and it burst into flames in nov. Bought a new SC372 which has been working out phenomenal. HAve two rock solid climbers and two groundies. In a good position to get through the winter in good shape. Hoping to buy an 18" chipper in the spring. And no major Injuries!!!! YAY!! Here are some pictures!

Best of luck to everyone in 2013!

Some up, some down here. Mostly up I guess.

Had not a bad year financially, and kept reasonably busy. Got out of stump grinding. Sold my old truck and bought a newer one, picked up a nice xp250 as well. Got out of doing contract climbing. Found some awesome groundies. Lost some awesome groundies. Had a few small holidays. None of my workers got hurt. I got my first serious work injury which involved surgery and about 6 weeks of not climbing. Was supposed to be 3 months, but, you know...

2013 is going great so far!

Sorry to hear about your misfortune mckeetree, it's hard to keep smiling mate, but you can only do what you can do. Make the best of it and be happy with what it is. There's always a blessing to count, no matter how bad things get!

Lost my dad, found the love of my life.
Bought 2 saws. Cut a lot of trees. Made decent money. Lost my health insurance, got it back. All in all life is good. 2012 took, but gave in return.

...

i survived the apocalypse... did not get hurt... cant complain... new engine in the chipper... weeded out the last of the ####head clients and replace them with sweet old ladies... my health is not too bad... my family has a roof and food... 2 of my cats died... and 2 more showed up on the porch... any year is a good year if im still breathing at the end of it...

Eh, still got my equipment, even upgraded a piece (pickup). Still have money to pay bills. Won't get into the rest of it. Was what it was. Could've been a lot worse.

Oh yeah, almost forgot, paid off my bucket, painted it and put on new metal (tool boxes, cab guard), painted chipper.. got drivers license back after more than a decade. not so bad, all and all, more I think about it.. lol.

2012 was good, I bought a bucket truck and a grapple truck. Last spring I hired a guy to help with the cutting he is pretty good but I noticed I have gotten a bit lazy. I never did loose my winter weight. This year my goal is to get in more trees and get in the best shape of my life.

Well I'm still here, still operating barely but what alternative is there. I had more work this winter than in a long time if all winters would of been like this and at better pricing before the economy puked I would be much better off. Wife went on diet, i joined her though i'm really only 35 pounds over weight, seem to feel better. I just hope the economy picks up and the rich loosen their pockets instead of hording like they did last 4 years.

No joke. I am ready for the rich folks to start spending money again. Of course around here the illegal alien problem is just that...a big problem. I never thought I would see illegals so blatant as to put ads in the yellow pages and purport to be in "business."

Last winter and spring was GREAT. Summer was about on par with past years, and fall was alright. Bought some new equipment, and got some business matters straightened out. Still working on the employee issue. Looking into 2013 I'm hopeful for a good year, but it looks like it will be on par with the last few... been hearing a lot of "no money"
