:help: My 026 could really use a new fuel filter, it's been in that tank since '94. I keep eyeballing it and can't figure out if it takes some special tool to reach it. What's the secret? Thanks in advance for your advice. :help:

a piece of wire coathanger with a hook bent into it works just fine. fish it out, hold the hose and change the filter. don't pull it any farther out of the fill hole than you absolutely have to.

try needle nose pliers or cut an 8 in. section of coat hanger, and with pliers bend it to make a 1/2 in. j shape on the end, then pull it out with that.

That '94 version will have a very short fuel hose. If it breaks, it was ready to be replaced anyhow. A hook is better then pliers .. the pilers often perforate the hose.

I have these 8-9 inch forceps that are real thin and one is straight set and one is curved. No problem with these. I even used them to clamp down on the hose to hold it , so it dont fall back in till your done.

Yea, this seems to be the hard part, the hose is so short the filter can't go anywhere. Thanks for the tips.

Yea, My 028AV has a short hose as well
However, It will stretch a bit. (be careful)
If you can get ahold of it? You can put a new filter on

If you are lucky and a wire works. I just changed mine on my Echo 1001 and i had to go thru the side where the line enters the case because it was too short to pull thru the fill hole...Bob

Ditto On that!!!!!

I just got one given to me last week and it actually did not have a filter on it I ended up putting a new hose and filter on and it was a stretch job getting the filter on it

Okay, I was wondering how you could squeeze 12 posts out of a simple question like changing a fuel filter. Okay, I found out.

+1 on the wire. I keep a 8" piece of wire in my tool box. It has a 1001 uses, including cleaning out oil holes.
