I just keep mine sharp and full of gas and oil and run them until they fall apart..Then I buy new ones...From time to time I clean the air filter and give em' a good bath.

On the 361 the cover around the clutch drum does that just unbolt and pull right off? Was just thinking about pulling it off to do some cleaning.

Well got home from work and wanting to install my new double dog kit. I decided to give the saw a good cleaning first. Like I thought, it was pretty dirty under that cover.

I'd eat off that saw now. I wouldn't really want to but I would if you asked me to. :D

Wow! I'm obviously a slacker. For normal cutting, I just pick up the saw, make sure it has oil and fuel....and cut. If I know I haven't used that saw in a while, I'll dump the old fuel out, then refill it. Whenever I change a chain, I flip the bar over.

That's about it. When something isn't running right, then they get a proper clean up and check over, but that is very rare.

The only exception is milling. If I am going milling, everything is cleaned and checked, and the H settings adjusted in the rich direction on the day. After a days milling, I do blow all of the dust out with an airline.

Haha I just get bored and want to keep it looking nice so I clean I guess. My friends use to get on me about cleaning my car all the time said I cleaned it more then I drove it. I would jack it up and wipe the under side down all the time.
There was some some spots on the front of the case I couldnt get off with a rag and water so I even got out the rubbing compound to get them off lol. Saw is a few weeks old and has about 7-8 tanks through it so I do use it every weekend or day im off work.

Maintaining a saw means different things to different people. If you use the right fuel mix, keep the oil tank full, clean the air filter and the bar oiler holes...then a saw will run forever and never complain. But if you want a photogenic saw, it takes a bit more work. Also, a sharp chain goes a long way toward keeping a saw clean. Chips don't gunk things up like dust.

I agree litefoot I think the last time I was cutting using the rsc3 chain in some pin oak it was throwing more dust then I like. Not everyone has to keep a spotless saw specially people who work with them for a living. Im sure my saw appreciates it though haha.
