Make my own semi-synthetic blend. 1/3 Motul 710, 1/3 Poulan Synthetic (because the wife got cases of pump bottles on sale at $0.50 bottle :) ) and 1/3 2-stroke dino oil (whatever is on sale). Make up six or seven little bottles painted blue so I know what they are and blend with 2.5 gal of pump gas at a time for about 40:1 ratio (maybe 38:1 cause I fill the little bottles to the top).

Even with synthetic or syn blend I wanna see blue smoke or it ain't rich enough. If it won't smoke, pour it out and start again. Only way to tell if someone might have straight gassed a tank. Since we have a volunteer crew working with us, I gotta see smoke or I'll shut it down and have them re-fuel.

I'm trying this one for the first time, i changed my mind from buying the motul 800, because its exactly 4 times as expensive as this one. I don't doubt its better, but this thing has all the standards and costs about as much as brand name bio chain oil at 6$/liter. Also picked up the cheapest chain oil at $11/5l, and oil for my car. Its all from french supermarket brand, i know the car oil is manufactured by Gulf. The car stuff is great, so i think i shouldn't have any problems with the 2 strokes either. :)

Aaaahhhh I see that you are taking the risk. :D Sounds like someone convinced you to take a walk on the wild side.... Would be nice to get a short feedback how you liked it. Should take a short runtime to flush out the old mix oil.

Be careful mixing oil some don't mix well with others.

My thoughts exactly. Mixing oils, especially three different brands and types, can be worse than just using low grade mix in the first place. Depending on what additives are used, they can have some very ill effects.

7sleeper, they finally got in the full synth oil back in stock, i didn't want to use the blend stuff. :)

Add some diesel into your 3 oil blend for extra smoke. I guess you could pull it off with just one oil and diesel too. :blob2:

Oh my:msp_confused:

Stihl ultra 6packs 2.6oz 1 gal at a time.

Typically don't burn enough to mix up more than a gallon at a time

Klotz original techniplate by the gallon.

For the shop gas, personal saws, and you can shave, bath and brush your teeth with it.

It is the same oil as Husky/Poulan Synthetic as well. You can get it at Walmart.......However, I can look at saws at my stihl dealer everytime I pick up a gallon of Ultra.

As well as Dolmar and Echo in the USA

The above post was with reference to Spectrum synthetic oil being the same at Walmart, Bailey's, Husqvarna, Poulan, Echo, and Dolmar.

i've got the squeeze bottle of echo power blend i think its called-its got the little measuring cap top you squeeze the oil up into. I use my 2 stroke engines very infrequently and mix up 1 gallon at a time and usually dump 1/2 of that gallon within a month or two into my truck and remix again when needed! Might just go buy the non-ethanol premix gas that STIHL/Craftsman/True fuel ect sell, for the amount i use. However I want to use up this squeeze bottle first...which is going to be awhile...

Husky oil, (6) pack, (1) gallon mixes, from my local dealer.

He is a reasonable, small shop. His brother helps him out. He knows my name and knows my saw and gives me the right chain when I ask and I don't have to tell him the saw specs. He has actually only worked on my saw a total of three times in the 13 years I have had it.

I want to help keep him going for as long as possible which is an easy choice, because his prices are decent anyway.

After I bought a 5 gallon bucket of Bailey's synthetic I thought now how am I going to use it without making a mess every time I mix. So, I put the bucket on a shelf with a ball valve on the bottom of the bucket. Now I just dribble out a little at a time. No mess.

Extralube is excellent quality oil, there was a comparison test done by one of the outdoor equipment magazines, IIRC early last year & extralube came out as being equal to the top branded names, & here it`s cheaper than all of them the only reason I don`t use it is I get a deal on another top brand oil at a better price than i could obtain extralube. If my deal stops for any reason I would not hesitate to use it. The only comment against is their bar oil is quite thick & for me requires thinning for the worst cold weather use. [ The oil I referred to was their 100% syn]

I used the Dolmar synthetic and I buy it from my local small engine guy. He's a Dolmar dealer. He's the best shop around to deal with anything and he feeds me a steady stream of junk saws to fool with. I buy the 2.6 oz. size by the six pack as I generally don't need much more than one gallon of mix at a time.
