Thanks!

Thanks for all the replies to this thread!
bottom line is I will have to try one before I buy it. To be honest I was never a stihl guy! As all the ones I have seen always gave the owner trouble! But it was really the owner not the saw! I like my 044 as I have retired my Sp 105 just to look at now. I don't need a bigger saw than the 2159 but I want a bigger saw. I know the Jred is smooth but I like variety! Thanks again late this summer I will get a new big saw!

i have been using one the last couple of days.

i don't think it's as smooth as my 372 and i know it isn't as smooth as my 357xp but to be fair,i think the chain has a lot to do with it.the guy hand fills on site and eyes the rakers,no gauge.it's RSK chain as well.i'd love to try it with a fresh or properly filled RSC chain.otherwise i really like the saw.it's definately smoother than the old style stihl saws.about time they got a good filtration system.

If you get a chance to run one, try to find some hard wood (Beech, Oak, hickory etc.) When I first gave one a try, I found it hard to believe it's that smooth. On softer wood, Hemlock for me, I really can't feel the saw running. I am currently running RS chain. I'm sure RSC would be even better, if that's possible.

One thing I noticed about the antivibe springs, there is a "keeper" cable inside the spring assembly so the springs can't be sprung by yanking the saw out of a pinch situation. I thought that was a pretty neat idea.

well,i used it today on...........

mostly oak and locust.cut ok but so did the 044.i still want to try a fresh chain.

Can't get the old RS in my neck of the woods anymore for 3/8". Only RSC from our dist.

I think you are right that the type of chain will make a differense, but not a large one.

The low-vibe chassis that is on some types does make a differense, and the shape of the rakers probably does, as well.....:)

Regular RS in 3/8" was discontinued here a few years ago.

Numb ?

The 441 is the only saw of the spring anti vibe type that put my hands to sleep. It seemed to have a buzz to it. It may have been an issue with the saw I had but 10 minutes into the first tank both hands were numb.

I hate to break this to you but if you are getting numb hands you may have a pinched nerve in your neck!

That is what a doctor told me after I was getting numb in my left hand and losing my grip in that hand (50% strength) some years ago. He was discussing such absurd things as a spinal fusion in my neck. :censored: that!

So, I went to another doctor at Stanford Hospital who diagnosed it correctly as carpel tunnel and sent me to a hand clinic. After a few months of therapy I regained full function of my left hand again. I wear arm braces to reduce the effect of carpel tunnel, and I do stretches. Far more likely that you are getting muscle strain in your forearms, causing the nerves running next to the muscles to get irritated, which in turn can casue numbness in your hands.

Been there, done that...

Smooth

I used my 026 for 4 tanks of fuel yesterday on a cleanup job. Red Oak and Hemlock. After about 3 cuts I was missing the 441. The antivibe is much, much better than the 026.

I brought the 441 along but a lot of the cuts were in water or in an old log that had dirt in a hollow spot up the middle. I'm not ready to cut dirt or water with the 441 yet.

It's great to hear good things on the 441, I went to pick one up Friday from my local dealer. I called to have a 20" bar installed. But he installed an rollomatic E bar. I want the ES hope to pick up Monday and try it out.

This is the first chain saw I ever bought. Want the best with good torque and cutting ability.

Want to buy a 28" ES bar for larger dia trees.

Great site. keep up the good work.

Should be a good saw. If you do not like it, I will take it! I have been looking for one myself. As soon as I get my 460 money... down I go and buy it! I will probably put a 25 inch on it. :hmm3grin2orange:

Waaaaaaait one Minute, What about the 441, the blonde and the romance ?

Thanks for all the in put but I maid up my mind as to my next saw it will be the Jonsered 2171 as I worry it might not be available soon just like the 372husky. Plus I can get a good deal one one from my dealer but I want full wrap handles so it will be a custom order. I am very comfortable with full wrap handles and personally prefer them as I am always cutting on the side of a mountain. Wish I could get a full wrap for my 2159 any ideas?

Good choise, the Husky looses its advantage anyway with full wraps, so just as well get the purtier Jonsered.....:biggrinbounce2: ;)
